School Description

Mangaroa School is a zoned, semi-rural school serving Mangaroa Valley and Whiteman’s Valley.  It is located on Flux Road, ten minutes from Central Upper Hutt and approximately 45 minutes from Wellington. The school is Decile 10 with a current roll of 108.  The school encourages parental and community participation and has a very active Home and School Committee.  Mangaroa School is well resourced with a heated, outdoor pool, large field, huge trees for climbing, a big playground and several sandpits.  The school also has a large hall, complete with staging and kitchen facilities, which hosts our school assemblies, performances and other events.

Mangaroa School keeps the community well informed through fortnightly newsletters, an up-to-date website, notices through Signmee and through our Twitter Account and Facebook page.  The school provides feedback to parents each year through two school reports, twice-yearly three way conferences and through informal interaction with staff.

       Mangaroa School’s Three Strategic Goals:

                     1.          For all students to achieve ongoing improvement in all curriculum areas, and up to, and beyond, national standards in reading, writing and                                 maths.

 2.          For all students to actively demonstrate our TREES, which underpin our teaching, learning and behavior at Mangaroa School.

 3.          To empower our students to make informed choices, with support, to become confident, engaged and motivated learners.
